    Pros +

    • Amazing property, service and food. Can¿t fault one thing during our stay. Just be warned that it takes a while to get there!!
    • The hotel is very beautiful and well maintained, with a lovely aesthetic and a comfortable room. The surroundings are peaceful and the overall atmosphere feels relaxing and special. We also booked a private onsen, which was an excellent experience: the price was very reasonable and the facilities were beautiful, clean, and very well maintained. On the return trip, we used the hotel shuttle service to the train station, which was excellent and very convenient. The staff was professional and attentive, and the facilities were in very good condition.
    • Well situated with a beautiful view of the lake and mountains. New modern architecture and impeccable cleanliness. Of course the onsen were well maintained and well operated.

    Cons -

    • Only the travel distances. Perhaps if there were regular shuttles advertised between key stations?
    • The hotel is quite remote, and although it offers a shuttle service from the train station, this information was not clearly communicated during the booking process. We arrived by public transport, which was a bit complicated, although the bus does stop right in front of the hotel. The half-board dining experience is mainly designed for local tastes. While the food quality was fine, there were very limited Western-style options, and most dishes included fish, which could be restrictive for guests who do not eat seafood.
    • No view of Mt Fuji.

Dinner buffet and breakfast was good

Boring room and the arrogant staff who absolutely were not willing to help the guest.

    10JeffreyPosted on: 1-20-2026

Beautiful facility, great location close to Togendai bus stop, the Hakone Ropeway and the pirate ship. Buffet was delicious and room onsen was amazing

    10RhaynedelPosted on: 1-19-2026

The room, food and service was excellent and exactly what we were looking for. The location was perfect to explore Hakone.

The only issue, which wasn’t that big of a deal was that the WiFi was very spotty.

    9KatiePosted on: 1-19-2026

Beautiful facilities and view of the mountains and lake. Very well-designed and clean. Close to the lake and pirate cruise ship port. Great buffet with a lot of selection.

There’s not a lot of room for luggage in the rooms.

    Gorg property and great view.

Couldn’t use public onsen cause of tattoos so had to do the private which was fine but I had to pay extra for that as well and you have to pay for late checkout - shuttle didn’t pickup till 3:30- but check out is at 10. Rainy weather so we had to just hang out . Also did luggage transfer- they don’t bring your luggage to you’re room so that was strange for such a nice hotel

The dinner was excellent — both the hot and cold buffet offered a wide variety of tasty dishes, and we also appreciated the included drinks. We only used it for two nights, so I can’t say if there would be much variation in the buffet over a longer stay, but for our visit it was great. The onsen was another highlight. It was spacious, well-maintained, and came with plenty of thoughtful amenities. The only downside was that a few guests entered the bath with towels wrapped around them and didn’t remove them, which seemed to come from a lack of understanding about proper onsen etiquette. Otherwise, it was a wonderful experience.

We really enjoyed our stay — the room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a short visit. The only thing missing was a closet. It wasn’t a big issue for us since we only stayed two nights, but for a longer trip we would have expected at least some sort of closet or more storage space. Overall, though, a very pleasant stay.

Private onsen in room, open bar for dinner, provided samuye was comfortable

Food was pretty bland and did not change day to day. Also, staff all seemed like they were brand new to the hotel.

    8ElizabethPosted on: 1-19-2026

the food was excellent, bathing facilities wonderful, and the beds quite comfortable.

I thought there would be different food options each day, but they were mostly the same. All very good, but the same two days in a row.

    Location, onset and food

Rooms were small and only a few had a view. Need more shuttle services to various locations or activities initiated or conducted by the hotel like treks etc.

The property is breathtaking. Staff was helpful and very nice. We were the only overseas guests so there was a lot of staring, but mostly out of curiosity. Loved the private onsen I booked, I wished I had more time to truly enjoy the facility. The public onsen space was really nice too, but I didn’t feel like covering all my tattoos and didn’t wake up early enough to give it a go. I was so relaxed I ended up oversleeping. The room is tasteful and comfortable. Food is great with a good western options too. Good for my picky eater daughter. Amenities were great. They have a luggage delivery service to the train station so you can enjoy your day without the extra weight. Perfect stay!

The place is so great we didn’t want to leave. Check out at noon would be grand. Also, more time at the private onsens. :)

Perfect location for a day trip to Hakone: the Pirate ship and the cable car to the volcano is just one minute walk from the hotel. The option of free transfer is a great advantage. The dinner and breakfast were very diverse, a lot to choose from. And the Onsen of course? We were a bit timid at first to go to the public Onsen, but it was totally worth it: it was not many people and the outdoor baths were absolutely stunning, even in the evening the view of the garden was very relaxing.

The automatic check-in machine extremely clumsy, dusty surfaces in the rooms (but as we noted it’s very common everywhere in Japan)

Lovely stay in Hakone. We really enjoyed the private onsen, which was perfect for relaxing. The dinner and breakfast were both delicious and beautifully presented. There is also an outdoor foot onsen, which was such a nice touch. The hotel is in a great location, close to all the main Hakone attractions, making it very convenient for sightseeing. A wonderful experience overall.

    9SandraPosted on: 12-29-2025

Well appointed property. Lovely view and easy to access the cable car and boats. The food was very good and it was nice that breakfast and dinner were included as there isn’t anywhere else to get meals in the vicinity.

Only negative is that there is t anything else really around it. But if you get in the cable car and go back up or take the boat you can reach other areas that have shopping, restaurants and cafes.

    9CarolPosted on: 12-20-2025

Family friendly. Convenient and quiet location. Across Togendai station where Hakone ropeway and pirate ship are located. The room is clean and comfortable. Open air bath is wonderful!

    10janicePosted on: 12-17-2025

Modern, clean and comfortable with multiple onsen. Great buffet dinner and breakfast. Convenient to cable car and sightseeing boat

    6KarinaPosted on: 12-16-2025

The room was nice.Comfy bed, pleasant private bath, the little details of the slippers complementary water, tea and shrimp cracks.Shower was pleasant.Really near by Togendai station. The onsen is nice, interesting experience, good facility. The decor and the views from the hotel are stunning.

Half of the Ryokan is under construction so to get to my room and from it to the restaurant, vending machine, reception and onsen was at least a 5 minutes walk. That was very confusing and unpleasant.Receptionist didn't speak very well English and wasn't trying their best to help, I'd even say somewhat aggressive. Even when I called reception from my room call got disconnected a few times and they didn't bother to call back.Buffet food was okay, there was plenty but no dish stood out for me.They don't allow tattoos in the onsen and charge you extra for cover stickers.Remote control showed they have Netflix but they don't.Don't expect to see Mount Fuji from hotel. The hotel under achieved my expectations and I will not stay here again. My private bath was facing the street and I felt there was no privacy as people walking by and can look.

    9JamiePosted on: 12-13-2025

The buffet! The food was amazing.

Check out time was too early, slippers were too big, better store for beer and other quick foods - beer was way too expensive at the store.
